Hello!
After months of being head-down and focused on writing my book, AI Neuroadvantage: The Brain Doubles Framework, I'm back. But it's with a growing frustration: why are so many people still having the wrong conversations about AI?
While scanning LinkedIn, I see so many posts from people fretting about whether using AI constitutes cheating, worrying about attribution and authenticity, and bemoaning the generic, cookie-cutter outputs.
And don't get me started on the ridiculous policing of the emdash.
I'm not downplaying the serious concerns many people have about using AI. If you make your living as a writer, creator, or coder, these discussions matter deeply. If you feel threatened, demoralized, or devalued by AI, then it's natural that you might protest its inadequacy. If you have ethical worries, these are very real, and I respect your position.
But don't get sidetracked by these arguments: they're red herrings, obscuring something much more significant that's happening right now.
What's Really Going On?
While people are wading into the AI scandal du jour, long-accepted conventions around how we think, work, create, and produce are being bulldozed!
We're already beyond the binary choice of "to AI or not to AI” and are witnessing the emergence of something I call hybrid intelligence—when human and AI brains work together so seamlessly that their contributions become almost indivisible.
In a fully engaged AI partnership, humans bring the insights, instincts, creative vision, and so much more. AI provides information, knowledge, structure, and processing power.
But as you iterate together, those distinct roles weave into something seamless until it’s no longer possible to untangle which specific elements came from where—and that's precisely the point. We shouldn’t need to.
It's like a pianist's hands. Each plays a different role, but the music emerges from their seamless combination.
This raises some pretty provocative questions, such as:
Where does your contribution end and AI's begin?
When your ideas have been shaped and developed through true collaboration, what does attribution actually look like?
Does dividing credit between human and machine even matter when the results transcend what either could achieve alone?
The Important Conversation
Professionals who grasp what's happening aren’t asking “who wrote what?”—which assumes the old solo-creator model—instead they're exploring 'how do we think better together?' and 'what becomes possible when intelligence becomes truly collaborative?'
They're not fighting this new reality—they're learning to work with it.
This newsletter, "AI Neuroadvantage", is for professionals who sense we're witnessing something bigger than just better chatbots. We'll tackle the practical stuff—yes, models hallucinate, outputs can be generic, and attribution questions matter in some contexts. But these are solvable problems, not the big story.
The door is wide open. The sooner people cut off the noise and focus on the bigger story, the greater their opportunities.
I'm glad to be back and look forward to hearing your thoughts on what you'd like to see covered in upcoming newsletters.
Warm Regards,
Janet
And yes, I know, I know. Yet another new name 🙂 Sorry. Getting to this point has been far from a straight line. We now have two primary brand names: Distinctive Minds LLC (the company) and AI Neuroadvantage (TM), applied to most of our content and intellectual property.
TOP 10 AI TOOLS
This week, I’m sharing a video from a respected AI review and database company, “There’s an AI for That” (TAAFT). We’ve mentioned them before. Having reviewed hundreds, if not thousands, of tools, they’ve created this video of the 10 they believe are currently among the most essential and powerful. There is only one on this list that I don’t use, so of course I’m in agreement 🙂
Next week: "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Partner: Why Cognitive Load-Sharing Changes Everything"
Coming Soon!
Officially publishing in the first half of October 2025. I’ll keep you posted on our progress 🙂
